Dome of the Rock

Kristin, Taylor, Cameron and I went to the The Dome of the Rock. It's is an Islamic mosque that's located on the Temple Mount. It was constructed on the site of the Second Jewish Temple that was destroyed during the Roman siege of Jerusalem. The dome used to be bronze and in 1993 the golden dome was finished. It's a gorgeous building. I really want to sneak inside!!

The Shook

I am obsessed with the shook! We go there usually on fridays and get challah bread (shabbat bread) and then get samples at all the stands. Last week we got invited to shabbat dinner...but we didn't go...yet. It's so busy all the time we loveeee it.

Zedekiah's Cave

Also known as Solomon's Quarries that runs 5 city blocks under Muslim Quarter of the Old City. It is the biggest quarry in jerusalem.

Garden of Gethsemane

I learned that the phrase "garden of gethsemane" is not historically correct. The word "gethsemane" means olive press which are kept in caves so that the olives aren't exposed instead of out in the open sunlight. Christ and his 3 apostles went to an oil press and from there Christ went 2 stone throws away to go and pray and there is an olive press right next to the Church of All Nations where the apostles waited for Christ and when Christ came back where the Romans arrested him. We aren't sure where the olive press is where Christ went but it's somewhere on the Mount of Olives. Interesting....
